Bentley Kentucky Genealogy

Here's the Bentleys in my grandmother's family:

  • Bertha Cymenthia Bentley (1912-1970), my grandmother.
  • Moses Bentley (1870-1950), her father.
  • Hiram Craig Bentley ( about 1844-about 1899), Moses' father.
  • Moses Bentley (1820-1850), Hiram's father.
  • Thomas Bentley (1785-1860), Moses' father.
  • Daniel Bentley (1752-1839), Thomas' father.
Marriages:
  • Bertha Cymenthia Bentley married John Riley Bays on 15 October 1931 in Morehead, Rowan county, Kentucky.
  • Moses Bentley married Armeda Bryant on 11 February 1892 in Floyd county, Kentucky.
  • Hiram Craig Bentley married Anna Akers in December 1866 in Pike county, Kentucky.
  • Moses Bentley married Martha Blankenship on 23 February 1837 in Pike county, Kentucky.
  • Thomas Bentley married Margaret Crase (various spellings abound) on 17 August 1812.
  • Daniel Bentley married Nancy Jane Lewis on 8 February 1782 in Rowan county, North Carolina.
Census Information:
  • In 1910, Moses and Armeda were farming in Pike county (Shelby precinct). Moses and Armeda were both 37 years old. They had five children living at home: David, age 11; Birchfield, age 8; Annie, age 6, Jacob V., age 3; and Hiram D., age 1. They were living next to the Sidney Bryant family (also farmers), who was Armeda's older brother.
  • In 1900, Moses and Armeda were farming in Pike county. Moses is listed as 22 years old, and Armeda as 25. They had one child, David, listed as 1 year old.
  • In 1880, Moses was living with his parents in Floyd county. He was 6 years old. His father, Hiram (age 32) was a farmer. Also in the household were his mother Ann (age 30); brothers Wilburn (age 12), William (age 3), John (age 3), and Joseph (age 1); and his sister Jane (age 9).
Again, that's pretty much all the information I have right now. Back with more later.
